Been watching the SaaS marketing landscape shift hard over the past 18 months and wanted to share what I am actually seeing play out, not what LinkedIn gurus are predicting. The big one: CFOs now say AI will reduce headcount. But that s not what is really happening. Nobody is firing their marketing team. They are just not backfilling roles when people leave. A 3 person growth team can now do what a 15 person department struggled with in 2022. That s the real shift. Here is what I am seeing work right now across the SaaS companies I talk to regularly: 1. Micro-communities over broad reach. The companies winning are not chasing massive TAM with generic content. They are embedding themselves in 4-5 niche Slack groups and subreddits and becoming the trusted voice there. Distribution is the only moat left, and community IS distribution now. 2. AI-generated content is table stakes, not a strategy. Everyone has access to the same models. The startups that seamlessly integrate AI into their workflow without making it their entire personality are pulling ahead. Your prospects don't care how you made the content. They care if it solves their problem. 3. Video is eating everything but not the way you think. Short form vertical stuff has peaked for B2B SaaS. What is working now is unglamorous 8-12 minute walkthrough content that answers a very specific question. Ugly thumbnails, real screen recordings, zero production budget. 4. SEO is fragmenting. Optimizing for AI search (Perplexity, ChatGPT browse, etc.) is becoming a real channel. If your content only ranks on Google, you are already behind. IMHO the companies that win won t be the ones with the biggest marketing budget. They will be the ones where every team member thinks like a marketer. YMMV but this is what I am betting on.
