It is genuinely a bummer to see clearly talented engineers get passed over simply because their resume isn't formatted for the way the market works in 2026. Most of us on the hiring side are under a lot of pressure to find 'immediate impact' candidates. Because of the sheer volume of applications, I usually only get about eight seconds to scan a profile before I have to move to the next one. It is a broken system, but since it is the one we are stuck with, I wanted to tell you exactly how to make sure you pass that initial glance. The biggest hurdle is when a resume reads like a list of daily chores. I see so many profiles that say 'developed features' or 'worked on the backend.' I already know you can code, but what I really need to see is the result of that code. I want to be able to go to my boss and say 'this person saved their last company $50k in server costs' or 'they cut latency in half for a million users.' If you can replace even three of your generic bullets with a specific metric or a 'before and after' scenario, you instantly move to the top of my pile. It gives me the ammunition I need to advocate for you during the screening process. AI has made it very easy for everyone to use the same buzzwords, so those raw numbers are the only thing that still feels real to us. I’m not trying to add more stress to the job search because I know how much it sucks right now. I just want to see more people from this sub actually getting into the interview stage. Overview

To provide day-to-day life-cycle management of the company's Contracts, which include US Government contracts for all divisions of the company. Helps develop and enforce company and departmental procedures relating to contract compliance and business administration.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the Director of Contracts and Procurement, supports leadership in interpreting contract terms and providing advice to corporate Officers and Operating Center Presidents.
• Support project managers in program execution while ensuring contractual and regulatory compliance.
• Supports proposal activities, including review of contractual terms and conditions, completion and negotiation of NDAs/TAs, participation in color reviews, completion of compliance requirements and support of compliance reviews.
• Develop relationships with both contracting officers and subcontractors.
• In coordination with the Procurement Department, leads the subcontracting and procurement activities under prime contracts by developing solicitations, negotiating terms/prices, and executing subcontracts during the program lifecycle. Documents in the contract file include allocability, allowability, and reasonableness of costs and other compliance requirements.
• Develops and prepares complex and sensitive internal and external communications.
• Assists in the revision and documentation of policies, procedures/processes, and document templates, including the implementation and training of DLH staff.
• Produces or contributes to the production of client and/or internal financial reports, including pipeline analyses, funding projections, and analyses, contract backlog, etc.
• Performs additional duties, including special projects, as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and at least 8 -10 years of progressively responsible experience in government contracts, grants, subcontracts, and procurement management, including extensive experience in the management of complex multi-year, multi-million-dollar IDIQ, T&M, CPFF, and FFP contracts.
• Demonstrated experience organizing, problem-solving, and multitasking under tight deadlines
• Self-motivated and able to work well with little supervision.
• Leading negotiations with customers and subcontractors, including but not limited to terms and conditions, price, and schedule
• Familiarity with Gov.-approved procurement systems with CPSR experience is desired.
• Experience working with ERP Systems
• Knowledge of the FAR and other agency supplements
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; ability to identify risk mitigation strategies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
• Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to employees and management at all levels

Six months ago I started building an AI tool to fix the part of recruiting I hated most: the signal-to-noise problem. Every recruiter knows it. You post a role, get 200 applications, and 180 of them are immediately irrelevant. The remaining 20 still take hours to evaluate properly. And somewhere in that chaos, you miss the right person. So I started building something to fix it. Here's what I thought would be hard: the AI part. Here's what was actually hard: everything else. Three things that surprised me: 1. The data problem is worse than I expected. Most resumes are written to game ATS systems, not to actually communicate what someone can do. Training a model on resume data is training it on noise. 2. The signal I care about most can't be automated. Ownership mindset. Startup fit. How someone behaves when things break. These are the things that predict success in early-stage companies, and they don't show up in any structured data field. 3. Founders don't trust the output. Even when the tool surfaces a great candidate, the founder wants to know WHY. "The AI says so" is not enough. Explainability matters more than accuracy in this context. Still building.
