Running a one-person content agency for about 2 years. At my peak I had 3 part-time VAs helping with research, outreach, and reporting. Started replacing the repetitive stuff with agents about 5 months ago. Not going to oversell this, here's exactly what happened. What I replaced: Client reporting: I had a VA manually pulling numbers from 4 platforms every Friday and dumping them into a Google Sheet. Now an agent does this automatically every Friday morning. Took a bit of setup because one of the platforms has no API, so I used Twin which can navigate the browser directly to pull the data. Prospect research: finding relevant businesses to pitch was eating like 6-8 hours a week. Agent now runs every morning, finds new prospects based on criteria I set, adds them to a sheet with contact info and notes. Not perfect but probably 80% of the quality at 0% of my time. Competitor content monitoring: used to do this manually, now get a digest every Monday. Inbox triage: this one partially works. It flags and drafts responses but I still review everything before sending. Not comfortable fully automating client comms. What I couldn't replace: Anything that needed a relationship or judgment call. Closing a client, handling a complaint, creative strategy. That's still me. Net: saved around $1,200/month in VA costs, probably 20+ hours a week. Not saying everyone should do this my workflows are pretty repetitive. If your work is more dynamic you'll hit walls fast.
